Am I eligible for this progamme?

This course is most suited to individuals who are at least 16 years old, have a high school education and wish to progress onto a degree at university, or the Undergraduate Level 4/5 Extended Diploma in Management with COTHM Online.

English Proficiency

Candidates who do not have English as a first language will have to demonstrate competence in reading, writing and listening skills in English.

Course overview

Learners will be studying 10 modules and each module will be comprised of 10 GLH (guided learning hours). Each GLH will have an optional material self-testing exercises, exercises (recommended), internet sources and readings (recommended).

1. Home, family and daily life: Following areas will be covered in this module,

• Home/Family life related vocabulary will be covered in this module
• Learners will be able to talk about social trends
• Learners will be able to understand presentations and explanations
• Learners speaking and listening skills will be developed to enable them to pursue a talk
• Learners will be able to identify the structure of a text related to pros and cons

1. Politics and socio-cultural issues

• Learners vocabulary will be developed related to socio-cultural and political issues
• Learners will be able to identify, analyze and understand news from different mediums like, internet, radio and television

1. Work and professions

• Learners vocabulary will be developed related to professional areas and working sector
• Learners will be made familiar with communication sources like, voicemails, email using formal and informal language

1. Health and fitness

• Learners will be made familiar with fitness and health related vocabulary
• Learners will be able to carry out communication with multiple people

1. Citizenship and politics

• Learners will be able to share their opinion on current local issues confidently
• Learners vocabulary will be develop related to politics and citizenship

1. Crime and punishment

• Learners vocabulary will be developed related to punishment and crime
• Learners will be able to listen and carry on discussions related to crime and punishment

• Learners vocabulary will be developed related to environment and its issues

The first 9 modules of this course are comprised of all four basic English Language elements, i-e., a reading, a speaking, a listening and a writing section. These sections will support learners to improve their communication skills. Whereas, the last module of, “The IELTS Exam”, will enable learners in planning and attempting their IELTS exam.
